New Taiwanese Oolong Teas

March 13, 2018
Careful sourcing is an essential part of the My Cup of Tea ethos. We always make sure our teas come from the best growers and makers, and are harvested and processed in such a way that retains their fullest and most aromatic flavour. For some time we have felt that we wanted to add some new oolongs to our permanent tea range that represent the incredible quality and variety of flavours of tea grown in Taiwan. Our tea trip to Taiwan in January this year was the perfect opportunity to do so, to explore some amazing different types of oolongs made in the stunning high altitude tea gardens of ‘Formosa’ island.

New Strong Breakfast Blend

February 13, 2018
There’s a time of day for all types of tea: a sweet grassy sencha with lunch, a refreshing high mountain oolong for the afternoon, or a calming Melissa infusion for the evening. There is something very comforting about treating oneself to a tea that perfectly suits the hour. Very intrinsic to English tea culture is a warming, hearty breakfast tea with milk to accompany our toast and jam or our Full English.

New Seasonal Blend: Quince & Lemon Myrtle

January 14, 2018
Every season when we receive new herbs from our growers, we discover incredible new fragrances, colours and textures. The delicate flavours of many herbs differ from one year to the next, which is what makes drinking naturally grown tisanes so special.

Our Tisanes: An insight into sourcing, harvesting and blending

January 14, 2018
At My Cup of Tea we are truly passionate about tisanes. We take great inspiration from the aromas and rich flavours of freshly harvested plants, appreciating their vibrant colours and scents. The process of creating a My Cup of Tea blend relies on an understanding of the many elements that contribute to the delicate balance of flavours of the blossoms, buds, leaves and stems of our fresh herbs.

Noel! Noel! Noel!

November 14, 2017
Staring up at a warm, crisp sky scattered with stars; horse riding through expansive wilderness; a dusty smell in the air of the plains underfoot. Christmas means very different things to everyone, many of us experiencing a Christmas that is at odds with what we normally expect of this time of year. This beautiful Australian carol set in the outback captures this atmosphere perfectly for us, and has formed the mood for our festive celebrations in store: a Christmas that is unexpected and unique.

Step by Step How to Prepare Matcha

June 14, 2016
Matcha is the only tea that is prepared from powdered tea leaves dissolved using a special bamboo whisk. It yields smooth vegetal flavours with slightly bitter notes. The better matchas balance the bitterness with sweet notes – especially in the aftertaste, which should linger in the back of the mouth. Brothy and fatty, sweet and bitter are all typical characteristics of Matcha tea.

Marrakech Blend

February 16, 2016
We enjoyed many glasses of refreshing mint tea on our recent stay in Morocco where it is not just a beverage but a symbol of hospitality and culture.
Normally fresh mint is added to strong gunpowder green tea and thereafter the brew can be given a personal touch – verbena or sage leaves perhaps, or both.
Today was the last day of our visit and the best was saved till last.

Tisane de Provence

August 1, 2013
Orange Blossom & Verbena
Lemon verbena, honey-scented lime blossom and aromatic mint as our base with woody lemongrass and the toasty almond tones of orange blossom which interact to bring a subtle sweetness to the mix. The result is a soothing infusion that we feel is redolent of Provence.
